Custom Domains, Upgraded: Now Truly Your Own Site | 7.15

Serve your own branded site on your domain, a 30,000-character article limit, and smoother book reading.

Hey Pickful community,

Based on your feedback, here’s what’s new today — including a big upgrade to custom domains, which now render as a site that is truly yours.

🌐 Your own domain, your own site

Until now, even with a domain connected, visitors still saw Pickful’s brand and Pickful’s navigation. Starting today, when a reader arrives through your domain, they see a site that is yours:

  • The brand is yours — your name appears at the top of the page, not “Pickful”
  • The interface is yours — the platform-wide navigation (explore, discover, leaderboards) is hidden, leaving a clean site centered on you
  • The content is yours — search engines treat your posts and articles as canonical on your domain. Whether a reader arrives via pickful.ai or your domain, search engines attribute the content to your domain — your SEO builds up under your own brand

The things that actually matter stay put: direct messages (on your site, that’s simply “contact me”), sign in / sign up, and your own edit links. There are no redirects — both URLs keep working, with the same session and the same experience.

How to enable it: Enter your domain in Settings and point your DNS to us; the settings page will show “Pending / Verified.” Because we also need to add your domain to our server allowlist, please reach out to us to switch it on — we’ll handle the final step.

📝 Article limit raised to 30,000 characters

The default article length limit for regular users jumps from 10,000 to 30,000 characters — a 3× increase. The editor’s character counter and warning threshold move up with it, so long-form writing has plenty of room.

📖 A smoother book reading experience

  • Redesigned list cards — a responsive “cover + content” layout, so book summaries show in full without being hidden behind the cover image
  • Chapter page titles — the browser tab now shows just the chapter name, cleaner and clearer
  • Two import fixes — a manuscript’s leading YAML metadata (title, author, date, etc.) is no longer shown as the book’s intro; and re-importing a manuscript no longer overwrites the intro you already wrote

💬 To the community

Custom domains are really about returning ownership to creators — your readers, your brand, and your search authority should live on your own domain, not just as a sub-page of a platform. What Pickful has always wanted is to help turn your content into an asset that is genuinely yours.

These improvements are live on Web, iOS, and Android — no app update required (custom domains apply to web access).
