A quick follow-up to last week’s topic-clearing fix: long-form article edits can now clear topics too.

The earlier fix covered the short-post composer (custom topic picker). But long-form articles use a standard dropdown select, and Rails’ placeholder option has a quirk — it only renders when no value is selected. Once an article was tied to a topic, there was no blank row left to pick back, so you couldn’t unlink it.

The dropdown now keeps an always-present blank option. To clear a topic on an existing article, open edit, select the placeholder row, and save.

This ships on Web, iOS, and Android simultaneously — no app update needed.

Thanks to everyone still pointing out the edges we missed. Most fixes are just “let’s check if we covered every corner” one more time.
