This Week's Improvements: Titles, Likes, Avatars & Tables | 7.9
Improved article titles, like-button glitches, avatar loading reliability, and Typora table rendering.
Based on your feedback, we’ve polished a few rough edges this week. Here’s what’s improved.
📝 No more duplicate article titles
If your article’s body started by repeating the title, the page used to show it twice. Now it’s automatically de-duplicated, so the title appears once — whether you post from the web, the API, or MCP.
❤️ A steadier like button
Improved an occasional refresh glitch on the like button — the animation and count now update correctly every time you like or unlike a post. Also, tapping like while signed out now takes you to the sign-in page instead of showing a “Content missing” error.
🎨 More reliable avatar loading
The generated initial-letter avatar itself hasn’t changed — same letter, same colors. What changed is how it’s delivered: instead of embedding a long base64 SVG directly in the image tag, it now loads from a plain URL (/avatars/:username). Some environments (like in-app WebViews) struggled to render the inline data, showing a broken image icon. The new approach loads and caches more reliably.
📊 Tables render properly now
If you write in Typora and drop a table right after a line of text with no blank line in between, it used to render as a wall of pipe characters instead of a table. That’s improved — these tables now render as proper tables.
These improvements are live on Web, iOS, and Android — no app update required.
Thanks to everyone who flagged these. Pickful gets better because of you.
